Tour Content and Details

An English-speaking guide, certified by the Japan Mountain Guides Association and a member of the local hunters’ association, will lead you deep into the foothills of Mt. Fuji.

The appeal of this tour is that you can experience Mt. Fuji not just by “looking” at it, but by feeling its nature and the connection with people.
Walk along the approach and visit a shrine where people have long revered Mt. Fuji as an object of worship.
Then, head to Aokigahara Jukai, created by eruptions of Mt. Fuji.
The guide will explain, from a local perspective, the geological formation of this forest and the ecology of the plants and animals that live there in an easy-to-understand way.

At the lava cave you stop by along the way, observe up close the dynamic landforms created by nature.
As you walk along the gentle ascent, you’ll reach a viewpoint overlooking the vast Jukai forest.
On clear days, enjoy the spectacular view of Mt. Fuji alongside the expansive Jukai forest.

Meeting Place

Basically, We will meet and disband at Kawaguchiko station, but up to 5 people can be picked up at the hotel if they are staying in Fujiyoshida City or Kawaguchiko area.

Notes・Cancellation Policy

  • If the guide determines that there are no safety issues, the tour will be held rain or shine.
    However, the guide may decide to cancel the event based on the weather forecast the day before. In that case, there will be no cancellation fee.
  • For safety management during the tour, please refrain from participating if you are under the influence of alcohol or are pregnant.
  • If you have a chronic disease that could lead to a serious condition (e.g. heart disease, anaphylaxis due to allergy, etc.), please be sure to inform us in advance. Also, please be sure to bring your regular medications with you.

9:00 – Meet at Kawaguchiko Station or Mt. Fuji Station.

Use the restroom, then head with the guide to a scenic viewpoint around Lake Kawaguchi.

9:15 – Scenic viewpoint overlooking Lake Kawaguchi and Mt. Fuji.

Introduction and overview of the tour itinerary.

9:30 – Visit Kawaguchiko Asama Shrine.

This shrine, with over 1,200 years of history, was built to appease the eruptions of Mt. Fuji.

10:15 – Scenic viewpoint of Lake Saiko and Mt. Fuji

Nestled within the vast Jukai forest, this lake is much quieter than Lake Kawaguchi, with remarkably clear waters.

10:30 – Ryugu Cave

Formed by a massive eruption 1,200 years ago, this lava cave was once considered a sacred site in Mt. Fuji worship. Enjoy the unique experience of stepping inside the heart of Mt. Fuji.

11:00 – Transfer to the trailhead and begin trekking.

You will hike a section of the Tokai Nature Trail, Japan’s fourth-longest trail. The route includes about 1 hour of ascent and 30 minutes of descent.

11:30 – Arrive at the viewpoint.

Enjoy the spectacular view of the vast Jukai forest! On clear days, you can also see Mt. Kita (Japan’s second-highest peak) and Mt. Ainodake (Japan’s third-highest peak). Your guide will provide detailed explanations about the surrounding nature.

12:15 – Descend to the parking area and transfer to the restaurant.

12:30 – Lunch at a local restaurant.

Enjoy the local specialty, Yoshida Udon. Please note that the restaurant does not have an English menu and does not accept credit cards, so be sure to bring cash.

13:15 – Visit a Japanese garden.

Enjoy the Japanese garden at Kaneyaman-en, one of the most historic hotels in Fujiyoshida City. Upon request, you can also savor matcha tea and traditional Japanese sweets.

14:00 – Return to Kawaguchiko Station or Mt. Fuji Station for dismissal.
